Additional Projects

The AACN (2015) states that a DNP Project should be a foundation of future scholarship. The projects described here are additional projects from other DNP students that I have been involved with. All of the projects demonstrate the concept of how scholarship continues to grow from one generation to the next. I am very proud of our collective body of work.

Dr. Aleksandra Novik

I was treating a patient in my private office for chronic, cancer-related pain. I recognized that the patient agreement form that I was using as a controlled substance agreement form was not evidence-based or relevant to my state prescribing requirements. I approached Dr. Novik, a DNP student at the time, and suggested that it would be helpful to me if a student developed such a form. As she completed this work, she did a number of presentations on New Jersey prescribing requirements, which caught the attention of several policy makers across the state. Upon graduation, Dr. Novik and Dr. VanWyck, were invited to speak after NJ Gov. Christie's presentation on his "Do No Harm" program on the opiate crisis. She presented this form at the American Association of Nurse Pracitioners' 2017 National Conference in Philidelphia, PA and her form solicited by the legendary Dr. Margaret Fitzgerald for inclusion in her companies' newsletter.
