Project RESULTS

Just like their physician colleagues, nurse practitioner students do encounter similar barriers in clinical training as they learn to prescribe. Presenting the six-step methodology described by the WHO Guide to Good Prescribing in infographic format, did demonstrate a positive effect on nurse practitioner student knowledge, skill, and confidence. In the future, educators should consider incorporation of the WHO methodology in the prescribing curriculum. They should also explore other applications of infographics in the nursing classroom. Ultimately, efforts to address deficits in prescribing education have the potential to improve patient safety.
